LILY HAYMAN

Director. Writer. Theatre Maker.

Lily is a writer, director and producer from Southern Sydney who lives and works on the unceded land of the Dharawal people.

She is currently the Associate Producer at Shopfront Arts Co-Op, where she is passionate about amplifying the voices of Young People and Emerging Artists. Lily is also one half of the all female team behind Purple Tape Productions, with whom she has directed the award winning ‘Party Girl’ by Lucy Heffernan which recently had a successful run at Summerhall in the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe. She has also directed Kate Bubalo’s [Your Name] for KXT in 2024, Dignified Exit (with Lauren Houston and Shopfront Young Company 2024, Stop. Drop. And Listen (with Hayden Tonazzi and Shopfront Senior Ensemble 2023), Expiration Date (Meraki, Adelaide Fringe ’23).She is the writer/director of Fledgling (2022 MerrigongX, 2023 KXT), and co-created The Infinity Mirror (2021 Shopfront ArtsLab, 2022 BrandX) with Thomas Doyle, in which she also acts as the sole performer. In 2023 Lily curated and delivered ‘Tape Over’ a four-week festival of new work entirely created and led by women and gender diverse artists at KXT.

Lily was the Assistant Director on Milk Crate Theatre’s major work DUST in 2022, and has previously performed with Milk Crate in their Restrospective performance, as well as in Tiny Universe (2021 co-production with Shopfront). Lily is an Associate Artist with emerging company Operated Coin and has collaborated on their productions Message Bank (2023) and Dancing Bear (2024).

Lily has a passion for developing new work, and facilitating community driven practice towards exciting stage outcomes.
